Distribution and characteristics of animals

1. Species and distribution of animals in the Mount Siguniang region

       According to the current investigation and research, 49 species animals from 7 orders and 20 families are dispersing in the Mount Siguniang region. Among all the orders, the carnivore species account for the most, followed by Rodentia and Artiodactyla, while Pholidota and Perissodactyla species are rare and closely related to the geographical location and natural environmental conditions of Mount Siguniang.

2. Regional characteristics of animals in the Mount Siguniang region

       1) Distribution characteristics of families:

       The southern families are represented mainly by Cercopithecidae and Hystricidae distributed in the Palaeotropical - subtropical belts, and the northern families are represented by Ochotonidae exclusive in the Palaearctic realm and the Talpidae mainly inhabiting in the Palaearctic realm. It is thus clear that the Mount Siguniang region is distributed by both southern and northern animals.

       2) Distribution characteristics of species:

       The animal fauna in the Mount Siguniang region is mainly composed of species in central India subkingdom and some modern northeast subkingdom, as well as other animal species in these subkingdoms.
