Ice erosion

Siguniang mountain is located in the transition zone between the Western Sichuan Plateau and the Chengdu Plain. Since Mesozoic, the Indosinian movement in Triassic has been the main one and experienced many tectonic changes.

In the area, there are strong wrinkle, mountain rising, stratum metamorphism, old fault reviving and river cutting down. All these internal and external forces have resulted in the complex terrain characteristics of the great difference in elevation between the mountains and valleys of Siguniang mountain.

Siguniang mountain area belongs to the ancient fold belt, and the landform is peculiar. The mountain originally formed alpine cold zone and frozen zone climate. The valley maintains subtropical climate with strong contrast.

It is composed of landforms with complex and diverse climate, soil and vegetation types. The vertical belt spectrum is typical and perfect. It produces a variety of natural landscapes, such as canyons, high mountains, extremely high mountains, platforms, gullies, giant peaks, waterfalls, lakes, swamps, glaciers, polar regions and other natural landscapes in one, showing the characteristics of magnificence, strangeness, precipitousness, beauty and seclusion.

The formation and evolution of the unique landform of Siguniang mountain has experienced a long and complex process of geological and geomorphological processes. Since the Tertiary period, the rise of Himalayan movement has shaped the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, followed by the formation of Siguniang mountain. Since the late Quaternary Pleistocene, with the arrival of the glacial climate, glaciers developed on the high mountains, and the glacier "U" Valley remains were formed after the glaciers invaded the valley. The area above 3200m above sea level is less affected by modern natural and human factors, forming a typical glacial landform, thus forming a unique Alpine (plateau) ecosystem. Typical angular peaks were formed through orogeny, glacier invasion and weathering, and majestic peaks with different shapes were formed due to different rock types.

Under the influence of glaciers, Siguniang mountain forms typical "U" valleys, such as shuangqiaogou renguoping, changpinggou dacaopo and Haizigou laoniuyuan; glacier suspended valleys include shuangqiaogou Dagou and changpinggou pond cloth; bingdou bingdou Lake shuangqiaogou baihaizi and heihaizi, changpinggou chibuhaizi and yangmantaihaizi, Haizigou rhinoceros sea and sister sea, etc.; glacial drift gravel and final moraine Ridges, serpentine mounds, lateral moraines, etc. perfectly display the glacial footprint. In the glacier land, affected by climate, altitude and some natural disasters, modern glaciers, waterfalls, barrier lakes and ice bucket lakes can be seen everywhere in the scenic spots.
